England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan on Thursday spoke to the media one day ahead of the first T20I game tomorrow. The skipper said he hasn’t figured out as to what would be the best playing XI of the side in South Africa.
Both England and South Africa are slated to play three T20Is and as many ODIs starting November 27 in Cape Town. The first T20I match will begin at 9:30 PM (IST) at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
“We don’t know our best XI yet. There are probably seven or eight guys who are strong candidates to be in the first XI. But with a full-strength squad here there is so much to discuss around team selection,” Eoin Morgan told Reuters.
“To start with, you need to try and figure out who your best six or seven batsmen are, then try and get them in the roles that best suit them and the team, and that gives you the best chance of winning the games.” he added.
England have various options of all rounder in form of Moeen Ali who can spin the ball really well while Ben Stokes and Sam Curran are both handy with both bat and some feasty pace.
And considering the upcoming T20 World Cup slated to be played in India, Morgan is eyeing to prapare atleast two spinner in the squad.
“Looking ahead to the World Cup we will probably need the option of two spinners. Then again, if we have the luxury of two all-rounders in the side (in these conditions) in Ben and Sam, that is also huge,” Eoin Morgan said.
England will play three T20Is on November 27, 29 and December 1 and the matches will take place in Paarl and Cape Town.
