England skipper Eoin Morgan on Thursday picked the touring Australian team as one of the “Best XI” that would even beat them at home.
Morgan said that Australian team are the slight favourites fir the T20I series starting from September 4 at the Rose Bowl Ground.
Australia is the current number 1 side in the T20I format, winning nine of its last ten matches in the international cricket. England is also doing really well in the shortest format winning 11 T20I matches out of the 15 matches in the last two years.
Morgan said that his men are going to meet the best Australian T20I team on Friday. “Australia…have their strongest squad here so they’ll be putting out their best XI. So if you’re to go on that I’d probably say they’re just favourites.” the England skipper said.
“The planning and strategy is progressing nicely to next year’s World Cup. This year being postponed has suited everybody because nobody was playing cricket around the world. It allows teams an extra 12 months to go through the process and the lead-in that they would do to any other World Cup.” the skipper added.
England team will be welcoming their front-line players for the series including Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and Jos Buttler. These players played during the Test series against West Indies and Pakistan.
The skipper also confirmed the presence of David Willey as one of the reserves however, the pacer chose to stay with his county team Yorkshire.
“I’ve had this conversation with David himself. He was supposed to be in this squad as a reserve but chose to go back and play for Yorkshire. We agreed it’s better he’s playing when he’s bowling well.” Morgan said.
