Indian team has been in their peak form in the shortest format of the game as could be seen from the ongoing series against Australia. Virat Kohli and his men kneeled against the Australian side by losing the ODI series 2-1.
But their record in the T20Is has been unbeatable so far, especially winning nine T20I internationals on a row. While skipper Virat Kohli became the first Indian skipper to have won T20I series in SENA countries, the Indian roster also pocketed some records during the 2nd T20I.
Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who helped the Indian team win the first T20I despite coming in as a concussion substitute engraved yet another milestone at SCG. After picking the wicket of Steve Smith, Chahal raced as the joint highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is.
He joined his team-mate and pacer Jasprit Bumrah who previously held the record with 59 wickets in 49 T20I matches. Chahal joined him in the club by taking just 44 matches and reach as many wickets in the shortest format.
He may have had a forgettable outing as he conceded 51 runs in his spell by chipping in just one wicket. He leaked runs at an economy rate of 12.80 as he faced the wrath of the mighty Australian batting attack.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan also achieved a personal milestone by becoming the third-highest run-scorer for India in the shortest format. He also surpassed former Indian skipper MS Dhoni (1617 runs) and Suresh Raina (1604 runs) and took the third place with his 1641 runs.
Skipper Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer for India with 2843 runs followed by Rohit Sharma at second place with 2773 runs.
Both the teams will square off against each other for the third and final T20I match at SCG on Tuesday i.e., December 8.
