BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday announced that India’s upcoming series England will comprise of five matches in T20I series.
England is slated to tour India early next year for four Tests, followed by three ODIs and five T20Is. The series will most likely comprise of the day-night Test at Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The former Indian skipper confirmed the complete fixture of the series starting early next year.
“England is touring India for four Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is. It is easy to have bilaterals as there are just two teams,” Ganguly said during a press conference
“We have to keep assessing the situation, a lot of people are talking about the second COVID wave, we have to be careful,” he added.
Ganguly also gave an update on the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League in 2021 stating the board is trying to conduct the tournament in India next year.
“We are trying to have the next IPL in India. It’s a tournament for India. I always tell people that they need to be here to see what IPL means to India.” Ganguly concluded.
India is also slated to host the T20 World Cup next year may or may not behind the close doors. And the T20I series against England would serve as the preparation for the T20 World Cup.
Team India is currently in Australia for the three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Tests starting from the ODI series on November 27.
Virat Kohli will be leading the side in the limited-overs series and play only one test match of the series in Adelaide. He will return to India after the day-night Test match as he is expecting the delivery of his first child.
