New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the forthcoming home series against Pakistan starting December 18. The speedster sustained a partial stress fracture on his lumber spine and it will require an attention for four-six weeks to completely recover.
After returning from the IPL in UAE, Ferguson represented New Zealand in the three-match T20I series against West Indies. He picked the most 7 wickets against West Indies before sustaining injury resulting in partial fracture.
The report said he would have to undergo, but a mandatory rehabilitation during until he recovers completely. He will also miss out on the Super Smash season slated to begin late in December until February 14 next year.
“We’re all really feeling for Lockie. Injuries are certainly part of our sport, but to get something like this when you’re at the very top of your game is especially disappointing. The pace and skill he’s been able to consistently produce have made him one of the very best white-ball bowlers in the world and a huge asset for the Blackcaps” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said.
“Lockie has a great attitude and I know he’s up for the fight so he’ll get stuck into the rehab and we’re still hopeful he may get back on the park at the back end of summer,” he added.
Ferguson has been a victim of injuries earlier including the series against Australia last year. He sustained a calf injury on his debut at Perth, curtailing his bowling after 11 overs of his spell.
