Andrew Strauss, the former England skipper feels that Stuart Broad is current;y in the form of his life and he had never been in better form like this in the past. His remarks came when Stuart Broad continues to hunt for his 500th Test wicket in the third test.
Broad was left wedged on 499 wickets as the fourth day of the third Test match between England and West Indies was cancelled due to the rain.
On Tuesday, the 34-year-old seamer will go into the final day of the third and the last test match of the series against West Indies. He just needs one more wicket to become the second England bowler to claim 500 wickets in the longest format of the game.
“I honestly don’t believe Stuart Broad has bowled much better than this. There were a couple of years where perhaps he lost his wrist a bit and it was hard work for him bowling to right-handers. But in this series, he seems to be equally potent against left- and right-handers,” Strauss was quoted as saying to ESPNCricinfo.
“But when we look at all of his attributes. you can talk about his height and pace; it’s actually his competitiveness and we have seen this year. He is at his best when he has something to prove. He’s had the bit between his teeth in these last two Test matches and that has served him particularly well over the course of his career,” he added.
West Indies requires 389 runs to win the match, on the other hand, England needs only eight wickets to close the series on the final day of the Test. West Indies is currently batting at 10/2 as they chase down the stiff target of more 289 runs at the Old Trafford to win the final test. While England only needs eight wickets to win the series by 2-1. The winner will entitle the three-match Test series. The series is currently levelled at 1-1.
