Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday said that it hasn’t ruled out hosting the most anticipated Asia XI vs World XI match.
The board was supposed to stage the Asia XI vs World XI match on the birth anniversary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The tournament was slated to be held on March 21 and 22 in Dhaka after the AR Rahman concert on March 18.
“We still have the plan to host it [T20 matches between World XI and Asia XI],” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.
“You know due to the pandemic we had to [postpone] the plans that we had regarding celebrating the birth centenary of the father of the nation,” he said. We have not ruled out those plans totally and if the condition allows us we will certainly execute those plans,” he added.
Currently, the board is working on the tri-team domestic tournament which will start on October 11. The tournament will also mark the resumption of domestic cricket in the country. The name of the tournament will be BCB President Cup and the teams will be led by Mahmudullah, Najmul and Tamim.
BCB will also conduct a domestic T20 tournament which will also serve as the preparation for the T20 World Cup in India next year.
