Indian spin maestro Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the reasons why India is in a commanding position in the first Test. The visitors got a lead of 71 runs after bundling Tim Paine-led side is all credits to the Indian bowlers. Ashwin picked the most 4/55 as he dismissed Steve Smith, Travis Head, all rounder Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon.
His penchant for adopting to challenging conditions and bore a fruit out of it has been one of the biggest reasons for his success in Test cricket. Playing in Australia after a break of 18 months especially in the pink-ball match, one had seldom thought of Indian spinners having a upper-hand at Adelaide.
After leading a eventful second day that saw a total of 15 days falling, Ashwin being the most successful bowlers among both the sides said, “I think we are all aware that everybody skins cat differently. Obviously, you can learn. There is no stoppage or anything. You can always learn from people as to how they go about their business,”
Ashwin also went on to say that when a spinner plays overseas he should have two clear agendas- take wickets and stay composed.
“I have always maintained especially when you play abroad, passages of play needs to go your way because you are doing a twin job, and doing it against conditions.
“As far as I am concerned, I see if I can learn and put in the earnest effort is all that I can do. How people perceive it is for them to do,”
The 34-year-old is also the fourth-highest wicket-taker for India in the Test cricket also reiterated that he has had successful performances playing outside India.
“Things can be blown out of context and I have put those things in the shelf in the backyard. I really want to enjoy my trade and want to have all the fun I possibly can,” he said.
“For me, I don’t want to sit back and think whether it’s my best performance or not as there is still an innings to go and looking forward to entire Test series.” he concluded.
