Australian team suffered another blow after the pacer James Pattinson was not cleared for the third Test starting January 7. The 30-year-old sustained an injury on his ribs during the Boxing Day test that he didn’t play due to his leave from the national duty.
Pattinson had a terrific season for the Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded IPL 13 in the UAE. He even helped them win the fifth title during the final against the Delhi Capitals.
Owing to his current form, he was considered as one of the best backups for Mitchell Starc and Patt Cummins. Australia had named Sean Abbott (who himself sustained an injury during the T20I series), and Michael Neser for the Test series. But the duo is yet to get their debut cap in the ongoing series that has seen an indistinguishable fight so far.
Team India departed for Sydney on Monday after winning the second Test by 8 wickets in Melbourne Cricket Ground.
