Australia women clinched the ODI series by defeating the White Ferns in the second ODI on Monday. Skipper Meg Lanning scored her 14th century as she blasted 101* off 96 balls including nine fours and three sixes.
After winning the toss, Meg Lanning decided to bowl first as she put the visitors to bat. New Zealand women had a good start with a 50+ opening partnership between Sophie Devine (79 runs ) and N Dodd (34 runs). Amy Satterthwaite and Devine stitched a partnership of 93 runs and took build the momentum for a 250+ score.
Jess Jonassen caused the most damage in the White Ferns’ inning by taking down four wickets while Molineux and Schutt shared two wickets each.
White Ferns reached a total of 252/9 after 50 overs with the bowlers left to defend a respectable total in the Allan Border Field.
Australia got a good start which was followed by a clinical show from Meg Lanning, Rachael Haynes as they chased down the target with five overs left.
Amelia Kerr continued with her glowing form with the ball by taking three wickets and rattled Australia’s middle order batting.
Both the sides will now face each other in the third and final ODI match on October 7 at the same venue.
