Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel has said that he is optimistic about the side’s title-winning campaign in the IPL 2020 in UAE.
The 26-year-old feels that this year Delhi Capitals have a balanced squad and they have also covered all the bases this season. Delhi Capitals haven’t won a single IPL title yet and their hunt for the maiden title continues.
Ricky Ponting is the head coach of the side while the franchise has also acquired the ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin this season. They also have the likes of Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Shimron Hetmyer and Chris Woakes who can change the course of the match.
“With the new changes, I think the squad looks good. With fast bowlers, spinners and all-rounders, we have covered all the bases and I think we can become champions this time. Everyone looks positive in the nets and we all are in good shape.” Axar told PTI.
Axar is excited about returning on the field after so many months and expressed his excitement to be with his team mates for IPL 2020.
“First of all, it feels really good to be back playing on the ground after being off from cricket for a long time due to lockdown. Since we are in the tournament week, it feels really good and the boys are in a positive mind frame. I feel I am practicing with a positive mindset. I have ticked all the boxes in bowling, batting, and fielding, so I think I have prepared well enough.” he said.
Delhi Capitals will face Kings XI Punjab on September 20 in their opening match of the tournament in Dubai.
