Bangladesh’s cricketer Saif Hassan on Tuesday announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. The batsman also said that he has self-isolated himself at his home until he tests negative for the deadly virus again.
This comes as one of the major setbacks for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as they prepare for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka in October. Bangladesh players are scheduled to travel to the island nation to get used to the conditions before the Test series.
Earlier, the ESPN CricInfo reported that Bangladesh’s bowling coach Nick Lee had also tested positive for Coronavirus.
“Our consultant for Covid-19 is reviewing Lee’s case to determine whether it is a new or previous infection before advising on the management plan,” BCB’s Sports Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said.
Hassan had got his debut cap earlier this year and he was training at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Irpur before testing positive.
BCB has been coordinating with the Sri Lanka Cricket for the stay and training camp of the Bangladesh players in Sri Lanka. But before that, the players will take part in the camp behind closed doors in Mirpur. Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will make their international comeback after the pandemic in over six months.
