Bangladesh batsman Saif Hassan on Wednesday turned positive for the coronavirus twice after going another round of test.
After testing positive for the first time, Hassan had self-isolated himself at his residence until he tests negative. His sample for the second round of tests was taken a week after he tested for the first time.
Bangladesh is set to tour Sri Lanka in October for the Test series and SLC has also named a 27 member preliminary squad. But they haven’t included Hassan’s name in the list following his COVID-19 test debacle. If he recovers from the virus, he can still make it to the SL tour.
The 21-year-old Hassan made into the Bangladesh side after a successful domestic cricket campaign and for the Bangladesh A team.
The BCB named him in Bangladesh’s squad for the Test series against India last year, however, he couldn’t make his international debut.
He finally got his Test cap against Pakistan earlier this year and also played against Zimbabwe in February.
BCB chief Nazmul Hassan is currently awaiting the response of the Sri Lanka Cricket on the alteration of the quarantine period. The SLC has set the mandatory quarantine period of two weeks before the series.
The first Test is supposed to start from October 23 but it still remains in doubt as SLC is yet to respond to the BCB.
