Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat signed the Netherlands batsman Tom Cooper for the upcoming edition on Monday.
The 33-year-old will now be a part of the side for the next two seasons of the BBL after leaving his former team Melbourne Renegades. Cooper has played 71 matches in the BBL scored 1202 runs at a strike rate of 125. He also led the Renegades until the last season.
Besides, he has represented Netherlands in 23 ODIs and 18 T20Is and also played in ICC World Cup events.
Darren Lehmann, the head coach of the Brisbane Heat welcomed Cooper in the team as he said: “He’s a really good game manager, especially batting and has the ability to either get his team away to a flyer at the top in the Power Plays or be innovative in the middle overs and closeout innings,”
“He’s a handy bowling option too and always brings a lot of calmness and insight when he is in the field.
“I know from past encounters that he enjoys playing at the Gabba, and his family are always keen to catch up with him when he is here, so we think he will enjoy the chance to make a fresh start with the Heat.” he concluded.
The 10th edition of the Big Bash League is set to begin from December 12 with the first match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades.
