Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Director of cricket Mike Hesson has issued caution to players under the bio-secure bubble in the UAE on Monday. Hesson said that in case anyone breaches the bio-secrity bubble willfully, may have to face consequences.
The forthcoming 13th edition of the IPL is slated to kick-start from September 19 and the finals will take place on November 10.
The RCB conducted a virtual meeting which they shared on the official Twitter account on Monday discussing on how to go ahead with the protocols.
Hesson instructed the staff and the players by stating: “We have a document the BCCI have written, which is basically part of your contract. If there’s a breach of the bubble, if it’s a wilful act, then that becomes a contractual issue between the player and RCB; it will be dealt with very seriously,”
Hesson further stated that if a player violates the bubble protocols, he would be barred from the team for seven days and undergo COVID-19 tests.
“As you [Kohli] alluded to, if there’s somebody who breaks this bubble, that we’ve worked incredibly hard to ascertain and put in place, it affects the whole tournament. It’s not just RCB, it’s actually the tournament, the TV rights. There will be strong consequences if players choose to do that. Every player from every team will need to sign a document which basically explains the consequences around that.” Hesson further added.
All the IPL teams have finally arrived in the UAE and they will have to stay inside their hotel rooms for atleast six days before starting group training.
