Channel Seven has finally terminated the broadcasting deal with the Cricket Australia (CA) after a declining relationship on Friday. Earlier, the broadcasting giants had written a letter to the CA, notifying that they had breached the contract.
Apparently, Cricket Australia didn’t notify the Channel Seven about its schedule for the upcoming summer season. Due to that, the channel also mentioned of starting the process of contract termination worth AUD 450 million. However, the next payment of AUD 25 million is still pending for the next week.
James Wareburton, the head of Channel Seven criticised Cricket Australia, calling them the “train wreck” with a “stumbling, bumbling and incompetent” administration.
Cricket Australia (CA) is already in a fix after the schedule of the Indian Premier League 2020. After that, India will tour Australia for the white-balled series, followed by the Test series.
“Cricket Australia remains in ongoing discussions with the Seven Network about delivering a compelling summer of cricket,” a CA spokesperson said on Friday. “CA is committed to fulfilling its contractual obligations to all its partners this season,” he added.
