Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday ordered an investigation on a ‘blatantly racist’ comments against the pacer Daniel Christian. Apparently, Danny Christian spoke about the casual racism on Cricket Connecting Country’s premiere.
Christian has represented Australia mostly in the limited-overs format of the game and also a part of the Melbourne Renegades team in BBL.
After his revelation, Cricket Australia immediately took the action and demanded probe into identifying two racist troll accounts.
“We are deeply disappointed to see blatantly racist and uneducated comments in the aftermath of Cricket Connecting Country’s premiere last night,” Cricket Australia wrote on Twitter.
The Cricket Connecting Country show sponsored by CA consists of an online panel hosted by Mel Jones. The first episode of the show featured Dan Christian and Rachael Haynes as the guests.
The 37-year-old has so far played 19 ODIs and 16 T20Is for Australia and he spoke about how important it is to address the racism.
“I think it is an issue in Australian cricket, I don’t think it’s as ‘in your face’ as you might see around the world or even elsewhere in the Australian culture,” Christian said during the show.
“I think it’s definitely there, it’s more of casual racism, just little throwaway lines here and there, made to be jokes and a lot of that for me personally has been around the colour of my skin and the fact that I don’t look Aboriginal or whatever that means. That’s the most noticeable thing for me,” he added.
