Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday released the schedule of the first half of Big Bash League 2020-21, set to kickstart from December 10. The initial stages of the tournament will take place jointly in Hobart and Canberra pre-Christmas period.
The first game of the league will see Hobart Hurricanes take on Sydney Sixers at the Bellerive Oval at Hobart. It will be followed by the second game between Melbourne Stars vs Brisbane Heat at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.
As per the schedule, Brisbane, Adelaide and Queensland will join the party post December 23 while the second half yet to be decided.
“the most complex fixturing task ever undertaken by the League” Cricket Australia said.
The board has been in talks with the state governments and seeking permission for staging the remaining matches of the league.
Australian government is also easing down the lockdown in many regions, would also open the possibility for the board to include Melbourne, Sydney and even Perth in January.
“It has been a difficult year for so many people around Australia and we look forward to bringing the BBL to every state should border conditions allow us to,” said Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Head of BBL.
