Cricket West Indies (CWI) on Monday said that it is yet to confirm the side’s tour to Bangladesh . The board also stated that it would take the final call on the tour next week. West Indies team is currently in New Zealand for red ball and white-ball series.
T20I team led by Kieron Pollard lost the series 2-0 with the final game yielding no result due to the rain. They also lost the first Test match by an innings and 134 runs under the captaincy of Jason Holder.
As per the speculations, West Indies were slated to tour Bangladesh for three Tests, as many ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals. But as per the request from the touring side, BCB had agreed on altering one Test match in the series.
But looks like the final call for the side’s tentative Bangladesh tour will not be made until the next week,
“The tour is not finalized. There is no final decision on anything.” CWI president Ricky Skerritt said.
“The matter is being finalized this week. We have a very packed schedule ahead in 2021 because of the postponement of so much cricket in 2020,” said Skerritt.
Akram Khan, cricket operation chairman of BCB also said he is still awaiting the confirmation from Cricket West Indies.
“It’s not that they don’t want to play but they are not ready to stay here for a long period of time. In the recent past there was bio-bubble trouble during the England-South Africa series,” said Akram.
“There is a possibility that the series will proceed without those two T20Is and one Test” he added.
Currently Bangladesh players are busy in the ongoing Bangabandhu t20 Cup that will conclude on December 18.
