Chennai Super Kings continued with their patchy form as Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated them by 7 runs on Friday. Sunrisers Hyderabad also registers their second victory in the tournament and the second consecutive win in their last two outings.
After winning the toss, SRH skipper David Warner decided to bat first as he opened the inning with Jonny Bairstow. SRH’s top order struggled and lost a couple of wickets within the powerplay with the CSK bowlers striking early.
Youngster Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma changed the gear and built a partnership of 77 runs and take the team’s score to 164/5.
Priyam Garg showed his class with variety of shots in his inning of 51 runs off 26 balls with an impressive strike rate of 196.15.
Chennai Super Kings had to chase a target of 165 runs and progress up in the points table from the bottom place. Yet another time top order disappointed and while Faf du Plessis managed to put up 22 runs off 19 balls before getting run out.
Ravindra Jadeja and skipper MS Dhoni combined together to build a partnership and inch closers towards the target. Jadeja scored 50 runs off 35 balls as he skewed bowlers for five boundaries and two sixes in his spirited knock.
Unfortunately, Jadeja became the target of T Natarajan in the 18th over and target became tougher for the yellow army.
Subsequently, Chennai Super Kings agonized on their third loss off the four matches they played so far. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad climb to 4th position in the points table. Priyam Garg became the player of the match for his game changing knock of 51 runs off 26 balls.
