Delhi Capitals reached the finals of IPL 2020 after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in Qualifiers match on Sunday. Kagiso Rabada starred by taking down four Sunrisers batsmen, including three wickets in his final over, and changed the entire course of the game.
Delhi Capitals also reached the finals for the first time in the history of the tournament under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
After opting to bat, Delhi Capitals had a terrific start to their innings as Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan boosted with 86 runs for the 1st wicket.
Sandeep Sharma bowled DC skipper Shreyas Iyer for 21 runs, but seldom did that hamper the side’s hunt for a big total.
Shikhar Dhawan hung on to his wicket and ensured the run-flow by finding the boundary in almost every over. He skewed every SRH bowler in his score of 78 runs, consisting of six boundaries and two sixes. Shimron Hetmyer smacked the bowlers and powered the team total to 189/3 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing a daunting total of 190 runs, SRH lost the wicket of skipper David Warner cheaply, first blot on their innings.
Other batsman except Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad failed to withstand the might of DC bowlers spearheaded by Kagiso Rabada.
Williamson scored 67 runs off 45 balls but his inning wasn’t enough to take the side home and qualification to the finals of IPL 2020.
All rounder Marcus Stoinis took three wickets and also became the player of the match for his contribution with both bat and ball.
Now that Delhi Capitals have qualified for the finals, they will face the defending champions in the finals on November 10 at Dubai.
