Delhi Capitals on Thursday named Australian bowler Daniel Sams as the replacement of the injured Jason Roy. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed Roy’s exclusion from the squad for the T20 series against Pakistan.
Roy had sustained a sprain on his left shoulder while practising this week and now he is in a rehabilitation camp, recovering from his injury. This is the second time that Delhi Capitals have named a fast bowler in the squad after the auction.
Earlier, the franchise had named South African pacer Anrich Nortje as the replacement of Chris Woakes for the upcoming season of IPL.

The 27-year-old Sams will be playing in the IPL for the first time in his career and he has a decent experience of playing in the Big Bash League. In fact, he finished as one of the leading wicket-takers in the 2019-20 season of the Big Bash League with 30 wickets in 17 matches.
Earlier, Roy had exclaimed that his injury is minor and he was also eyeing a comeback in the limited-overs series against Australia. But now he has even opt out of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League in UAE.
Delhi Capitals had bought Roy for Rs. 1.5 crores for this season but he is now unavailable due to his injury. Roy has been associated with the franchise since 2018 when he played his first season of the IPL.
