Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the training squad for the upcoming bilateral ODI series against Ireland. This will be the first series that UAE will host in 2021.
Emirates Cricket General Secretary, Mubashshir Usmani said, “We are very pleased to announce UAE Cricket’s wider (training) squad ahead of our series against Ireland early in the New Year.”
“We have successfully provided Domestic tournaments for our players to continue playing competitive matches as well as opportunities to be exposed to experts in our game to hone their skills, however, we are cognisant that to continue our upward trajectory on the ICC rankings, and our ICC Membership standing, it is through competing at the International level that will assist in achieving our goals.”
UAE will host the series next month. The bilateral series will consist of four ODI matches that will commence on January 8. Abu Dhabi will serve as the venue for the matches. The second match will be played on January 10 while the third and fourth matches will be held on January 12 and January 14.
“We look forward to finalizing and announcing the UAE’s final tour squad.” added Usmani.
