England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday announced the 16-member squad for the upcoming series against West Indies women.
England has dropped the batswoman Georgia Elwiss owing to her back injury for the five-match T20I series. The board has named Sophia Dunkley and Katie George among the 16-member squad. Sophie last played for England in March 2019 while the pacer George played for England back in 2018.
Most of the players in the squad had played for England in this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup. All rounder Bryony Smith and Linsey Smith have been roped in as reserves.
The ECB released a statement quoting the women team’s head coach Lisa Keightley after the announcement: “We have worked hard since the group came back together in preparation for this series and we’re in a great place going in to the Vitality IT20s against West Indies.”
The series will begin with the first T20I match on September 21 and the final game will take place on September 30.
