England skipper Joe Root has echoed on the side’s coach Chris Silverwood’s guilelessness to tour Pakistan in the coming future. Root said that his side could possibly tour Pakistan but the main decision lies in the hands of the ECB.
Root openly batted for a Pakistan tour after the overwhelming response of the crowd on the return of international cricket after March.
“I’d love to go and visit Pakistan. It would be a great opportunity to go and play there personally. Unfortunately, it’s not my decision to make, but it looks a wonderful country to go and play cricket in. The wickets look nice and flat, which will be a nice change to what we have just played on here” Root said after the conclusion of the second test in Southampton.
“You could see the emotion of everyone back in Pakistan when Test cricket was there back-end of last year.” he further stated.
Former cricketer Wasim Akram also hoped that England would also travel Pakistan in the near future as he said: “You boys owe Pakistan cricket”. He said this because Pakistan agreed for a tour to England in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
“So if everything goes well, England should tour Pakistan. I promise you they’ll get looked after on and off the field there and every game will be a packed house.” Akram said.
