Chennai Super Kings spinner Harbhajan Singh may not play in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in the UAE. Earlier, the 40-year-old didn’t participate in the team’s pre-season camp in Chennai citing mother’s illness.
He did not even fly to the UAE with the team as the team said he would join them after two weeks. CSK have already dealt with several blows ahead of the season start. At first, two of their bowlers Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive of the COVID-19. Due to that, CSK extended its quarantine period till September 1 i.e., Tuesday.
Later, star all-rounder, Suresh Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020, following the rift over the hotel room he was offered to stay in. A lot has already taken place within the franchise in the UAE and now Harbhajan Singh has given a second thought on flying to the UAE.
A source close to Harbhajan has said that due to the growing number of cases, the spinner may also cancel his idea of flying on Tuesday.
However, the leg-spinner is yet to speak on the final decision of joining the squad ahead of the upcoming season starting from September 19.
It still remains doubtful that after all such mishappenings, Harbhajan would participate in this year’s IPL or not. CSK team is currently under the extended quarantine and might as well miss their first game of the season.
