England county club Nottinghamshire on Monday confirmed re-signing England pacer Harry Gurney for the 2021 season. The pacer spent most of the time being on the sidelines during the 2020 season and now he has signed yet another 12 months of deal with the Outlaws.
Gurney, 34, has been a substantial figure in Nottinghamshire ever since he joined the side back in 2012. During his stint at the Trent Bridge, the side won three trophies in the county circuit.
“I was glued to the TV as the boys got over the line at Edgbaston – for me, they were clearly the best team in the competition,” Gurney quoted in statement.
“It was quite inspiring to watch them go about their business – and, if anything, it made me hungrier to come back and try to win it with them next year,” he added.
Head coach Peter Moores welcomed Gurney on his return and said his inclusion in the white-ball squad would only strengthen the side.
“There’s no doubt that Harry improves any white-ball squad he’s part of – and, in many ways, that we were able to win the Blast without him this year owed a lot to the experience and knowledge players like him have instilled in the rest of the group.” Moores said.
In his time of 10 years at the club, Gurney played a total of 237 matches across all the formats and scalped 468 wickets so far. He will start his fresh campaign with the Notts in the next season in 2021.
