England women skipper Heather Knight has urged the players to seal the series in the third T20I match against West Indies. The third T20I match of the five-match series will take place on September 26 in County Cricket Ground in Derby.
England women have already won the first two matches by 47 runs and already lead the series by 2-0. This has been England’s second successive win after the women’s T20 World cup in March.
“I think we haven’t played our best cricket yet. But we’re still winning well and still posting 150+ despite probably not fulfilling our potential as a batting line-up yet. We haven’t had many people go on” Knight said ahead of the third T20I.
Tammy Beaumont has been the side’s top scorer so far, scoring 62 and 21 runs in the first and second T20I match respectively. Heather went on to praise the side for putting up over 150 runs in both the matches and expects the side to replicate the same performance.
Heather pointed out that West Indies women looked rusty in both the matches and struggled to put up runs on the board.
“As a side, we’ve executed really well, particularly with the ball, and managed to keep them quiet. Hopefully, we can continue to do that. From a captain’s point of view, in terms of the growth of the team, you want to see the girls put under pressure as much as possible, but we’re doing our job very well at the moment, and will look to continue to do that.” Heather concluded.
