After a disappointing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Australian team all-rounder Glenn-Maxwell had a terrific match in the Friday face-off between India and Australia. With his explosive batting, he was the head-turner in the first knockout of the three-match ODI series between the two teams. The Aussie set out fireworks of fours and sixes. He smashed 45 runs off just 19 balls, which helped Australia clean team India’s clock.
After he delivered such a spectacular performance, he and his IPL team Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) teammate, New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham indulged in an amusing Twitter banter. Both of the players played outstandingly well for their respective teams but had failed to impress during the IPL tournament. Maxwell couldn’t shine in a single match that he was a part of. He could manage to register only 108 runs cumulatively in the entire tournament. On the other hand, Neesham played in only 5 games and could manage to score only 19 runs.
However, in comparison to Maxwell’s failed IPL venture for the KL Rahul led team, in which he couldn’t even manage to hit a single six, he was phenomenal playing for his national side. The all-rounder smashed five fours and three sixes in Friday’s match.
As a result, this event sparked a series of memes on Twitter. Reacting to one of them Neesham wrote while tagging Maxwell, “Hahaha that’s actually pretty good @Gmaxi_32.”
Glenn Maxwell grabbed the opportunity to tease Rahul. Replying to the Tweet, he wrote in a jocular way, “I apologized to him while I was batting.”
Here’s the Tweet:
India and Australia will nest lock horns in their second ODI on Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After losing their first game, they would try to get their act together in order to even it out.
