Adversities keep growing for the Indian cricket team as batsman wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffer an injury during the third day of the third Test between India and Australia at the Sydney Cridcket Ground (SCG) on Saturday.
Jadeja and Pant were taken for scans leaving the Indian team in a tight spot. Wriddhiman Saha took up the wicket-keeping in the second innings of Australia.
Jadeja sustained a blow to his left thumb while batting during the 99th over. Pant received a blow to his forearm while batting during the 85th over. Although he chose to carry on his injury left him in serious pain which limited his time on the field to the 87.4 overs, when the Josh Hazelwood’s attack made him lose control of his shot and get caught by David Warner in the first slip.
Pant has started out well and would have been able to continue with his momentum if not for the blow he copped to his elbow. By then, he had accumulated 36 runs and was approaching his half-century, but luck was not on his side today.
Jadeja came down on number 7 to keep it together for the team. He contributed 28 runs but couldn’t add more due to his troubled thumb.
India amassed 244 runs in their first innings. Australia added another 103 in their second innings and they now lead by 197 runs.
