Indian opening batsman is all set to play in the third knockout of India versus Australia Test series, which forms a part of the World Test Championship. The star batsman is eyeing his comeback and has started training at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a couple of pictures of Sharma, preparing for his comeback in the upcoming Test.
The star batsman arrived in Australia having recovered from the hamstring injury, which he sustained during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and clearing the medical tests. He underwent the mandatory 14-day quarantine period upon his arrival in the country. After undergoing the COVID-19 entry protocols, Sharma joined the squad on Wednesday.
Sharing a photo of Rohit Sharma, in which the ‘Hitman’ can be seen practising catches, BCCI wrote, “The engine is just getting started and here is a quick glimpse of what lies ahead. #TeamIndia #AUSvIND.”
Apart from injury, Sharma couldn’t join the team in Australia due to the ill health of his father. He had to consequently miss the first Test.
India evened out the series with Australia 1-1 by clinching the victory in the Boxing Day Test match by 8 wickets, under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy.
India will now lock horns with the hosts in the third Test that will commence on January 7 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
