The Indian cricket team is scheduled to tour Australia for the most anticipated tour at the end of this year. But there has been a setback for the Indian caravan as Virat Kohli and Co. will have to train in “smaller bubbles” in Adelaide.
This implies that players will only be able to train in small groups and not altogether as a team in the South Australian capital.
A few days back, the South Australian government had issued a statement saying that players of neither country will get any sort of leniency. The players will have to abide by the quarantine protocols and especially the visitors since they will have to divide themselves into groups.
Once the Indian team will land in Adelaide, they will divide themselves into groups of 3-4 after undergoing COVID-19 tests. South Australia’s Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Michael Cusack is the in-charge of the safety, who will surveil everything.
“They will be allowed to train in what you might consider smaller bubbles. So, there might be three or four players that would be allowed to train during their quarantine period, and it would be the same consistent players,” Cusack told a website.
The Indian team will have 25-member squad for the Australia tour for the two-month long series. The medical officer put an emphasis on having small groups in order to avoid the spread of virus in whole squad.
“If you had the whole party training together and one person inadvertently tested positive all of them would become a close contact (and) everyone would need a further 14 days of isolation and quarantine,” the officer added.
