Royal Challengers Bangalore physiotherapist Evan Speechly on Sunday informed that fast bowler Navdeep Saini might not be available for due to injury. Saini sustained a split webbing during his spell against the Chennai Super Kings’ batting in Dubai.
It was after the completion of the final delivery of the 18th over, the pacer sustained the injury and left, forcing him to leave the field.
“Saini has split his webbing in the last ball there. He obviously got hit on the thumb on the right hand. He has just split the webbing over there, fortunately, we had a good hand surgeon, he stitched up nicely. So we could just monitor over the night and check it after getting ready for the next game,” said Speechly.
RCB is enjoying the third place in the IPL 2020 standings with 7 wins and 14 points on their name. They lost to the Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in Dubai. Had they won the game, Virat Kohli and his men would have clinched the second spot instead of third.
Virat’s plight with a similar injury
“Virat four-five years ago he had it in Kolkata, we managed to stop the bleeding and he smashed a 100 after we got a plastic surgeon who had stitched it,” he added.
Kohli scored 100 runs off 58 balls in his meticulous knock and led his team to the victory despite the injury on his fingers.
“Unfortunately you cannot compare the two injuries. Some people can manage it and some can’t. Its also because Saini’s injury is on his bowling hand so it puts a lot of pressure on him so I cannot be sure when he will be good to go, I am hoping that he will be good to play in the next game and the rest of the tournament,” Speechly further stated.
RCB is next scheduled to face Mumbai Indians in their next match-up of the tournament on October 28 in Abu Dhabi.
