Delhi Capitals stumbled on to their second loss of the season after the Mumbai Indians overwhelmed them in Abu Dhabi. The likes of Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav powered the Mumbai Indians to their fifth win of the tournament.
Mumbai Indians won the match by five wickets with two balls remaining in the hand. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals not only lost the match but also lost the first spot in the IPL 2020 standings to Mumbai Indians.
Shreyas Iyer admitted that the side fell short of 10-15 runs, leading to their second loss of the season. The side suffered a major setback after losing the wicket of Marcus Stoinis in the 17th over.
“Definitely, I would say 10-15 short, 170-175 on the board would have looked completely different. We really missed out when Stoinis got out, he was hitting the ball really well and also seeing the ball like a football” Iyer said.
Delhi Capitals didn’t include Rishabh Pant in the playing XI as the wicket-keeper batsman was seen struggling in the last game during the dismissal of Varun Aaron.
The skipper said he has no idea as to when Pant will return to the squad, but it revealed he might not be available for the next few games.
“We have no idea (on Rishabh’s availability), the doctor said he has to rest for a week and hope he comes back really strong.” Iyer stated.
Alex Carey has replaced the injured Pant for now and he is expected to take in the gloves in the next match against Rajasthan Royals on October 14.
