Looks like things have only worsened for the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing season and this time with an injury woe of the all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.
The Caribbean all rounder has now been ruled out of the tournament due to groin injury. CSK has had one of the most upsetting seasons so far and still hanging at the bottom of the team standings.
With only four matches left for their catastrophic campaign, the side would like to finish on a high. However, with Bravo leaving the tournament, it also comes as a blow for the MS Dhoni led team.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan spoke to the ANI to confirm that Bravo won’t be a part of the side for the rest of the season after he sustained injury against Delhi Capitals. He further confirmed that the all rounder is set to fly back home following the severity of his groin injury.
“No, Bravo isn’t playing any more part this time round and the groin injury has ruled him out. He will be flying back in a day or two,” the CEO said.
Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful franchises in the tournament history, making 11 appearances in the finals so far.
They were the runner-ups of the previous season, after losing the match to the Mumbai Indians in the final over thriller by just one run.
No doubt CSK has dealt with several blows ahead of this season, especially after Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh opt out of the tournament.
“Undoubtedly Raina and Harbhajan are both vital cogs in the CSK unit and they were missed. But you have to respect personal decisions and that is how we function irrespective of whether it is a senior or junior player,” he explained.
CSK fans would be hoping to have a good comeback next season after a disastrous campaign in the ongoing season in the UAE.
