Chennai Super Kings exited from the ongoing IPL 2020 after playing its last game against Kings XI Punjab on Sunday. This is also the first time in the history of IPL that CSK has failed to qualify for the playoffs since its inception in 2008.
MS Dhoni, one of the most successful skippers in the tournament himself had a poor season on a personal front this year.
However, the 39-year-old rubbished all the rumors on his retirement even from the cash-rich league after the win against KXIP.
On being asked whether he would retire before the next season, the captain cool replied “Definitely not” to Harsha Bhogle.
When asked about Dhoni’s future plans, the veteran South African batsman and also CSK opener Fad du Plessis acknowledged how much motivated his skipper is.
“When you think CSK you think of MS Dhoni and also because IPL needs MS Dhoni to play, the fans love him so much so why not. He still feels motivated and to pitch up every day and come and do… being a big player comes with a lot of expectation and a lot of pressure,” Du Plessis told teammate Lungi Ngidi.
Plessis went on to explain how much MS Dhoni is to play in the next edition despite dismal show this year in the UAE.
“That answer told you he is very much motivated to come back stronger next year. There have been a few rumours floating around I have seen of him possibly retiring. So that answer was possibly a hell no straightaway,” he added.
