Indian bowler Ishant Sharma has cleared the fitness test in India and is on the way to make it to his fifth Test tour of Australia.
The seasoned pacer underwent two bowling spells for about two hours on Wednesday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru under the supervision of Paras Mhambrey, the head coach of India’s under-19 team. The National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief, Rahul Dravid, and the chairman of selectors Sunil Joshi observed the entire session. The observers remarked that his form was looking good. He also displayed no discomfort in fielding.
The 32-year old who had suffered an abdominal muscle injury during the single match he played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, is currently in the recovery phase and is showing decent results. The year hasn’t been a prosperous one for him as he has suffered strings of injuries this year.
Sharma has made into the provisional squad and is hoping to get in his perfect form by the time the Test clash between the two teams begins. He will be flying separately if he makes it to the final cut.
India and Australia will play two games in Sydney, ahead of the Vodafone Test Series commencing on December 17. One game will be played between December 6-8, which will be a red-ball face-off, and the second one during December 11-13, a pink-ball knockout. The teams will then fly to Adelaide for the day-night Test series.
