Kagiso Rabada wreaked havoc in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting and helped Delhi Capitals win the match by 59 runs. Delhi Capitals have now won four out of the five matches so far and also retain the top place in the IPL 2020 standings.
Virat Kohli had won the toss and chose to bowl first against the sturdy Delhi’s batting lineup. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave the usual good start and built a partnership of 68 runs for the 1st wicket. Skipper Shreyas Iyer who scored 88* in the last game didn’t look set and later gave his wicket to Moeen Ali who played his first match of the season.
Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis led the innings in the last last 10 overs and stitched a partnership of 89 runs for the fifth wicket. The duo cashed on all the lose deliveries and stormed past 190+ mark with a total of 196/4 in 20 overs.
RCB had a dreadful start to their inning as openers Devdutt Padikkal (4 runs) and Aaron Finch (13 runs) didn’t find themselves comfortable in front of the mighty Delhi’s bowling.
The side also lost the wicket of AB de Villiers within the batting powerplay, restricting the side to 43/3 after 5.5. overs. Virat Kohli did inject some resistance but Kagiso Rabada had the better off him in the 14th over and dismissed him for 43 runs.
From there, it was only Rabada’s show, followed by three more wickets as the RCB continued to crumble further. In the nutshell, Delhi Capitals put up a clinical show and won their second match in the trot and fourth so far.
Now, Delhi Capitals will face Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming match on October 9 in Sharjah Cricket Ground.
