Mumbai Indians all rounder Krunal Pandya was detained at the Mumbai airport for carrying the undisclosed amount of gold in his luggage.
The all rounder was stopped by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) during his return to India after the IPL in UAE.
“Cricketer Krunal Pandya stopped by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at the Mumbai International Airport over suspicion of being in possession of undisclosed gold and other valuables, while returning from UAE,” DRI sources said.
Krunal Pandya played a notable role in his side’s successful title-winning campaign in IPL 13 in the UAE. Mumbai Indians won the fifth title in the history of the tournament after a commanding victory against the Delhi Capitals in Dubai.
Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful franchises in the tournament with the title-winning campaigns in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
Pandya has so far played 71 matches for Mumbai Indians in the tournament and scored 1000 runs so far. He also has 46 wickets at an economy rate of 7.26 in 71 matches.
He also starred in Mumbai Indian’s title winning finals game against Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017.
