West Indies batsman Chris Gayle on Thursday confirmed of pulling out of the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League. Gayle had signed with the Kandy Tuskers will no more feature for the franchise in the tournament.
He was slated to feature alongside Irrfan Pathan, Munaf Patel, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and many more on the league.
The franchise also announced the news about Universe Boss’s exit from the league by posting on their official Twitter handle.
The franchise also announced the departure of England’s pacer Liam Plunkett from the tournament due to an injury.
“We are also sad to announce that Liam Plunkett will also not be playing in this year’s @LPLT20_”
A total of six franchises will compete in 23 matches with the tournament starting on November 26. The matches will take place in Hambantota including the finals.
The semifinals of the tournament will take place on December 13 & 14, followed by the finals on December 16.
