Dambulla Viikking stormed into winning their third win of the league, following a 5-wicket victory against kandy Tuskers. Batsman Angelo Perera propelled the side by booming with a match-winning knock of 67 runs, coming to the side’s rescue at Hambantota.
Earlier, Kandy Tuskers’ skipper Kusal Perera had won the toss and chose to bat first considering the nature of the pitch favoring the teams batting first.
Perera piled 41 runs and tailored a 58-run partnership Kusal Mendis (55 runs) and put up a total of 156 runs in 20 overs. Rajitha and Malinda Pushpakumara were among the pick among the Viiking bowlers by picking a couple of wickets on their names.
Dambulla Viiking bowlers cracked into the Tuskers’ batting lineup and aided their batsmen for chasing just 157 runs.
Chasing 157 runs, Viiking tripped onto a rickety start, losing both the openers in the batting powerplay overs.
Angelo Perera came into bat and produced some of the most productive shots from booming drives to carting sixes coming off with the straight face of the bat.
Perera smacked 67 runs off just 49 balls encompassed with five boundaries and three sixes. He partnered with the middle order batsmen and scripted the victory with four balls to spare.
Losing skipper Kusal Perera used a total of 7 bowlers with five of them taking a wicket each. Despite their efforts, Tuskers stumbled on to their 4th loss in the league and now hang at the basement of the Lanka Premier League.
