Chennai Super Kings lost its first game in the IPL 2020 against the Steve Smith-led Rajasthan Royals by 16 runs on Tuesday. Rajasthan Royals batsmen looked menacing in front of the leaky CSK bowlers as they massacred the balls for back to back sixes.
The CSK were very well back into the game until the final over when Lungi Ngidi leaked 30 runs in the final over. Jofra Archer came into bat and hammered Ngidi for four back to back sixes on the trot. Ngidi also bowled two no-balls and a wide and registered an unwanted record on his name.
He started off the over by conceding 26 runs off the two legal deliveries including four sixes and two extras for no-balls. He bounced back in the next four deliveries and allowed run a ball summing to a total of 30 runs in his final over.
Before Ngidi, Chris Jordan and Ashoke Dinda have leaked the same number of runs in the final over of the IPL. CSK lost the game but the fans were treated with a delightful three consecutive sixes in the final over of CSK’s chase.
After the loss, MS Dhoni reacted on being asked about batting at number 7 as he said, “I haven’t batted for a very long time, and the 14-day quarantine hasn’t really helped.”
CSK will next face and Delhi Capitals in their next match-up of the tournament on September 25 at Dubai International Stadium.
