The awaited BCB President’s Cup started on October 15 (Thursday) with the opening match between Tamim XI vs Najmul XI in Dhaka.
Tamim XI won the first ODI match by 42 runs due to the superb bowling display Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin.
Shoriful Islam finished with the figures of 4/37 in his spell of 10 overs and bundled the middle order batting of the Najmul XI.
After winning the toss, Najmul Hassan decided to field first and restricted the Tamim XI to 221/9 after 50 overs. Al Amin Hossain took three wickets in his spell, while Nayeem Hasan, Rishad Hossain picked two wickets each.
Mahedi Hasan was the top scorer with 82 runs off 57 balls including 9 fours and three sixes. In response, Najmul XI had a dreadful start as the openers fell cheaply.
Wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim top scored with 103 runs, but failed to take the team past 200 run mark and the side lost the game by 42 runs.
Mahedi Hasan was adjudged the player of the match for his match-winning knock of 82 runs. Tamim XI will now face Mahmuddin XI in their next match on October 19.
