Indian women pacer Mansi Joshi has been ruled out of the forthcoming Women’s T20 Challenge in the UAE next month. The Women’s T20 Challenge is scheduled to be held between November 4-9 during the IPL.
Unfortunately, Mansi won’t be able to join her team in the UAE as she has tested positive for the coronavirus. And uncapped pacer Meghna Singh will be replacing her in the Velocity squad led by the veteran Mithali Raj. However, the final confirmation is yet to come from the BCCI on the replacement approval.
The 27-year-old Mansi had undergone the mandatory COVID-19 test where she tested positive. Although she reported asymptomatic and also in a stable condition and also under home quarantine.
The BCCI had asked all the players participating in the Women’s T20 Challenge to undergo the COVID-19 test before leaving for the UAE.
The teams will reach in the UAE at the end of this month and serve a week’s long quarantine before getting on the field.
As per the reports, the teams are scheduled to fly UAE on October 21, without the players who have reported for the deadly virus.
A total of three teams will participate in the tournament: Supernovas led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Trailblazers led by Smriti Mandhana and Velocity led by Mithali Raj.
The tournament will take place in a single round-robin format with the finals on November 9 in Sharjah.
