West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels on Wednesday announced retirement from all forms of professional cricket. Samuels has been one of the most notable performers for West Indies, especially for his role in two T20 World Cups.
He was the top-scorer for the side in 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cup winning triumph under the leadership of Darren Sammy.
Samuels last played for West Indies against Bangladesh back in 2018 in December and since then he hasn’t donned the WI jersey.
As per ESPN Cricinfo, the 39-yesr-old had already informed Cricket West Indies before calling it quits in June this year. The batsman was recently seen indulging in the spats with the former Australia spinner Shane Warne and England All rounder Ben Stokes.
Warne had slammed Samuels for his distasteful comments on Ben Stokes involving and even called out his wife in his remark.
The all-rounder played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is for West Indies, scoring 3917 runs, 5606 runs and 1611 runs respectively. Besides, he has also taken 151 wickets across all forms of cricket he has played for West Indies.
His highest score in tests is 260. 133 in ODIs and 89 in T20Is. He also has the experience of playing in the Indian Premier League and Big Bash League.
