The 39-year-old Mohammad Hafeez has been cleared to re-join the Pakistan team after breaching bio-secure decorum in England, which directed to him being self-isolated. Mohammad Hafeez posted the photo, on August 12, taken on the golf course adjacent to Ageas Bowl, on Twitter saying: “Met an inspirational young lady today morning [sic] at golf course. She is 90+ & living her life healthy & happily. Good healthy routine”.
On Wednesday afternoon the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) then released a statement saying that the veteran all-rounder had been requested to self-isolate himself and also endure a Covid-19 test, the outcome of which was negative.
And hence, the all-rounder will re-join the home-side, although the bio-secure code of behaviour articulates that a player has to be in self-isolation for 5 days after breaching the bio-security standards and should take at least two Covid-19 tests.
Parenthetically, Hafeez is the second international player and third in general to break the bio-secure atmosphere guiding principle. England fast bowler Jofra Archer was the first guilty to breaching the code of conduct while travelling from the Ageas Bowl towards Emirates Old Trafford as he stopped on the way to his flat at Brighton during the West Indies Test.
The Lahore Qalandars’ star all-rounder is not a part of the current Test series against England. Nevertheless, he will reappear to the set-up for the T20Is. The T20I series against England is scheduled to commence from 28th August at Old Trafford. The outstanding two matches will be played at the same site on the 30th August and 1st September.
