Royal Challengers Bangalore registered their seventh win of the season after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets on Wednesday.
It was one of the forgetful days for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they registered their lowest score in the history of IPL after getting all out on 84/8 in 20 overs. Mohammad Siraj wreaked havoc into the KKR’s batting lineup with his prodigious bowling in Abu Dhabi.
He tumbled the top order by cleaning the wicket of Rahul Tripathi (1), Nitish Rana (0) and Tom Banton (10) in his miserly spell. Siraj also became the first bowler in the history of IPL to bowl two maiden overs as he finished with the figures of 3/8.
KKR batsmen were left oblivious in front of the ferocious bowling of the RCB and somehow managed to reach the total of 84/8. Skipper Eoin Morgan remained the top-scorer with 30 runs off 34 balls consisting of three boundaries and one six.
In response, RCB openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch provided a great start in the chase and scored 46 runs at the end of the powerplay.
RCB’s good show continues
With 39 runs more to score, RCB lost the wickets of both the openers before Gurkeerat Singh Mann and skipper Virat Kohli took on the field.
The duo finished the game off in 13.3 overs and also raced towards the victory with 39 balls to spare and 8 wickets in hand. Mohammad Siraj became the player of the match for his seamless bowling that helped restrict KKR on a low score.
Royals Challengers Bangalore not only grabbed the two points from the victory, but they also powered on to the 2nd spot in the team standings.
Virat Kohli and his men will next face Chennai Super Kings in their next matchup of the tournament on October 25 in Dubai.
