Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive loss in IPL 2020 after losing to the Delhi Capitals by 44 runs on Friday. CSK has been under the heat for showing lack of intent in the batting leading in both the losses.
It is undeniable that CSK is missing Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh this season after the duo pulled out of the tournament. Ambati Rayudu was been ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first match against Mumbai Indians.
After today’s loss, captain MS Dhoni pointed out the loophole saying that the team lacked steam in the batting. Due to that, the run rate kept mounting especially after the slow start in the inning.
“There was no dew, but the wicket did slow down. We are lacking a bit of steam in the batting and that hurts. The run rate keeps on mounting after such slow starts and adds pressure, we need to figure that out” Dhoni said.
Dhoni confirmed Rayudu’s availability in the next game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 2 in Dubai. He also emphasized on improving the spin bowling and fielding after they gave away a few boundaries due to fielding error.
“I think the spinners have not come to the party yet. We are bowling good deliveries, but we are giving away the boundary deliveries bit too often. I’ll ask the players as there have been quite a few dropped catches” he added.
With Rayudu back in the next game, CSK could work on its opening batting and promote Ruturaj Gaikwad to open with Shane Watson.
