Bangladesh star pacer Mustafizur Rahman been denied permission to play in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refused to give the NOC to the pacer over the international fixtures of the national team. Apparently, Bangladesh is slated to tour Sri Lanka between October and November starting with the Test series.
BCB chairman Akram Khan said that due to the national commitment, Mustafizur may not be able to join his IPL team in the UAE.
“There was an offer from the IPL but since we have a tour coming up, we didn’t give him the NOC. He is an important cricketer for us and this upcoming series is also important,” Khan told a news channel.
The 24-year-old was supposed to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season of the IPL. He had earlier played for Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He last played for Bangladesh in Test match back in March 2019 while he finished with 20 wickets in the 2019 World Cup. He was supposed to make a comeback in the IPL after 2018 and last played for the Mumbai Indians.
Unfortunately, he won’t be able to join the cash-rich league as the BCB isn’t allowing the players to participate in any overseas league.
