Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana on Friday said he aims to play a role of an all-rounder for the side this season. Rana has been one of KKR’s most prolific batsmen from the last season due to his impeccable batting skills in the death overs.
He pairs up really well with the skipper Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell to form a strong batting lineup. He will be a prominent member in the playing XI as a batsman but this time he aims to be helpful in with the ball.
Rana had dismissed RCB batsmen AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli in 2018 once and since then he became one of the options in the spin department.
The tracks in the UAE is most likely to aid the spinners, it also opens the option for Karthik to use an additional spinner.
“It’s good that spinners will get an advantage here so that I also will get some grip. I’ve improved as a player and a bowler. Hope I get more overs and help the team. Bowling is not a new thing for me. I’ve been bowling in domestic cricket,” Rana told Hindustan Times.
The 26-year-old is also confident about his bowling and also has a four-wicket haul in the shortest format of the game. He will also acquire leadership skills from Eoin Morgan who led England to its maiden World Cup title.
“I hope I also have that sort of leadership quality so that it helps in my domestic team and I grow as a player. He is one such rare left-handed batsman who dominates white-ball cricket. He’s a World Cup-winning captain of a successful country. I’m looking forward to learning many things from him,” he added.
